While trends may have once formed on the catwalks in Paris, nowadays anything can have its 15 minutes of fame with the help of an influencer and online virality. Come in, one shoulder up. This style has been taking my social media by storm since last summer, but it wasn’t until this season that I saw full-blown adoption of the trend. All of a sudden, not only the style buffs, but all my friends (and their moms) bared their shoulders – and to be clear, I’m 100 percent here for it.
One-shoulder tops combine a carefree look with a high-style aesthetic that fully embodies all the best aspects of summer. While the look might be a bit bold for my Zoom calls (but really, what is workwear anyway?), you’re bound to see me in any one-shoulder top at every meeting throughout the summer. After all, during the season of backyard hangouts, light but hearty meals, and happy hours that go well past midnight, two sleeves can sometimes feel a bit redundant.
