Nature is important to all of us. The ability to notice nature and capture it in writing is very nourishing and enriching our lives.

This is the first in a series of two-hour sessions with an award-winning nature writer. Anita Sethi. You will learn to observe and describe the natural world, drawing inspiration from the changing seasons. Learn about the time-honored tradition of nature writing and how to bring your voice to this exciting literary field.

Summer is the season for the celebration of nature; flowers are in full bloom, wildlife is abundant, and the daylight hours are long. This is a season of retreat, recovery and relaxation, perfect for letting your creative juices flow.

Filled with tools and tips, this workshop will give you the opportunity to learn and practice the craft of life painting. Through a series of creative exercises and tips, Anita will inspire you to tune your eyes, ears and pen to the beauty of summer nature, both in the city and in the countryside.

This master class can be ordered separately or paired with “Writing the Seasons: Autumn”.

Tutor Profile

Anita Sethi was born in Manchester, UK, where her love of nature first blossomed in the wild urban spaces. She is the author of I’m Here: A Journey Up the Ridge of Britain, which won the Books are My Reader’s Bag Award and has been nominated for the Wainwright Award for British Nature Writing, the Royal Literary Society’s Ondaatje Award, the Great Outdoors Award and the Portico. Prize. She has also published in the anthologies Women of Nature, Wild Islands, The Seasons, Ordinary People, A Special Sea: Postcards from the Edge, We Celebrate Your Memory, Solstice Shorts, and others. She has written for the Guardian and Observer, i paper, Independent, Sunday Times, BBC Wildlife, Vogue, Countryfile, Harpers Bazaar, New Statesman, Granta, Times Literary Supplement and BBC Travel, and has appeared on BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 Live. , World Service and ABC Australia.
